Gateway Operations Technician

Globalstar is hiring a Gateway Operations Technician to join our team in Kilingi-Nomme, Estonia.

This technical operations role reports to the Manager of the Estonia Gateway and is responsible for assisting on-site facility activities.

This position requires a person that has a strong understanding and hands-on experience in an operational environment supporting electrical and mechanical facility sub-systems.

They must be capable of meeting technical responsibilities in the complex operations environment of a satellite telecommunications gateway facility as well as providing strong project management and vendor control.

Some familiarity with IP networks and their associated types of interfaces such as routers, switches and hubs is required as well as some UNIX experience.

The individual must be able to operate without supervision and be part of a cross-functional team capable of understanding gateway operations end-to-end. Extensive on-call duties will be a requirement of this position.

• Troubleshoot and repair RF satellite communications antenna electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair facility RF assemblies and gateway computer systems.
• Maintain and monitor resources and gateway RF sub-system ensuring system uptime.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of the elements of the gateway systems and components.
• Monitor facility elements, including power systems, HVAC, and fire suppression.
• Familiarity with the operation of various test instruments (Signal generators, Spectrum analyzers, DVMs).
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic, electrical, and mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to maintain an on-call schedule for emergency site repairs on nights and weekends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer networking skills.
