Staff Software Engineer

We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer for our merchant team in the delivery vertical. The team's mission is to make merchants happy and successful on our platform, so they can provide the best possible quality of service to customers.

You'll work on large initiatives that shape how merchants perform and grow on Bolt, from signals that show how a merchant is doing to using AI to predict and prevent churn. You'll be a deep expert on either the backend or the frontend side, and you'll work closely with experts on the other side.

• Autonomously lead large technical and product roadmap items that cross team boundaries
• Design and build systems for the merchant domain, breaking them down into clear components
• Work in your area of depth: distributed systems on the backend, or React (web) and React Native (apps) on the frontend
• Ask the right questions about what we're building and why, and bring product thinking into technical decisions
• Use AI daily in your work and help the team grow its AI-native way of working
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders across teams

• Senior-level experience, with a track record of owning and delivering large, cross-team initiatives independently
• Deep expertise in either backend (distributed systems) or frontend (React and React Native)
• Strong product thinking: you understand what you’re building and challenge it when needed
• AI-native mindset: you already work with AI tools every day and can help others do the same
