Key responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile bank, client, and settlement accounts, ensuring alignment of transactions.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy.
- Manage group consolidation.
- Prepare internal reports for the company management.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Estonian Financial Supervision and Resolution Authority (Finantsinspektsioon) requirements under the Payment Institutions and E-Money Institutions Act.
- Support the management with both ad-hoc and recurring financial data for:- Capital adequacy and safeguarding requirements (e.g., segregation of client funds).- Reporting obligations to Finantsinspektsioon (FSA) and the Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank).- Any other reports as needed.
- Liaise with external auditors and regulatory inspectors.
Tax and Statutory Duties
- Oversee VAT, payroll tax, income tax and cross-border reporting.
- Ensure timely submission of tax declarations and coordinate with the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
Assets and Cash Management
- Timeley preparation of cash flow and client funds reports.
- Support finance department by providing reconciliation of payment gateways, acquirers, and wallets.
Process Improvement and Systems
- Optimise accounting processes, automation, and use of ERP or PSP transaction systems.
- Review and improve the existing prodcedures, drafting of new ones.
- Collaborate with IT/Finance to ensure accounting data integrity.
Team Leadership and Mentoring
- Supervise junior accountants, review their journal entries and reconciliations.
- Train team members in PSP-specific accounting practices
Requirements
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.At least 5 years of professional experience in accounting, including a minimum of 2 years in a senior accountant or equivalent role.
- Excellent knowledge of Estonian accounting and taxation standards, including preparation of annual reports and tax returns.
- Knowledge of UK accounting and taxation principles will be considered an advantage.
- Advanced MS Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and handling large data sets).
- Experience working with accounting systems; knowledge of the SAF program will be an asset.
- Fluency in Estonian and English (C1 level), both written and spoken.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, high sense of responsibility, and ability to work independently.
- Readiness to work in an international financial environment and communicate with regulatory authorities.
