This role implies leading the accounting and compliance function. You will own accurate accounting, tax compliance, statutory reporting, payroll oversight and audit coordination, handling a practical side of full-cycle bookkeeping in Estonia, and contribute to improving finance processes. You will keep the numbers correct, audits completed, the filings on time, and make the systems behind these work better.
What you'll do
Running full-cycle accounting (~200 documents/month) under Estonian GAAP and IFRS, including monthly and annual closing
Preparing the statutory Annual Financial Report (P&L, Balance Sheet)
Owning and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, and the documentation of accounting processes
Acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors — preparing working papers and ensuring compliance under current audit thresholds
Preparing and filing tax declarations with the tax authorities via e-MTA, including KMD, TSD and VD, and submitting statistical reports
Managing corporate income tax obligations under Estonia's deferred taxation system, controlling and mitigating tax risks
Owning payroll operations and ensuring full compliance with laws and regulations
Managing the financial terms of the contract lifecycle: financial risk assessment, KYC/AML compliance assessment, vetting of financial contractual terms, and making sure every payment is fully supported by a valid agreement and documentation
Managing treasury operations, overseeing electronic banking systems and optimising cash flow management
Administering, configuring, and potentially overhauling our accounting software (currently 1C: Accounting 8.3)
Configuring and maintaining automated data integrations — direct bank feeds, e-MTA API connections and automated e-invoicing channels
Acting as a proactive business partner: identifying cost optimisation opportunities, mitigating financial and compliance risks, and recommending improvements to processes, controls and financial efficiency
What we expect from you
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in accounting, with a minimum of 3 years spent executing full-cycle accounting as a Senior Accountant or Chief Accountant
Demonstrated experience preparing annual reports, including group consolidated reports, and managing relationships with external auditors
In-depth knowledge of the Estonian Accounting Act, Estonian GAAP, IFRS, the VAT Act, the Income Tax Act and local labor regulations
A working knowledge of at least one major accounting system
A confident use of e-MTA, the e-Business Register and the Statistics Estonia portal, and a proficient command of MS Excel / Google Sheets
Nice to have
A documented history of regular participation in professional tax and accounting training seminars
Familiarity with the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants
A valid EstQF Level 6 (Vanemraamatupidaja) or Level 7 (Juhtivraamatupidaja) certificate registered in Kutsekoda would be a strong plus
Understanding and appreciation of video games is a strong plus. You don't have to be gamer, but you have to feel positive about running finances for a studio from a creative field, producing video games
