THE ROLE
Genius Sports is at the heart of the sports data ecosystem aiming to champion a more sustainable ecosystem for sports, betting and media. As a part of our Agile Development team you will work with cutting-edge technologies to build scalable, robust systems. Our technology joins the dots between all aspects of sports. From leagues taking control of their official data and video, to brands creating immersive fan experiences.
As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in the full software life-cycle, working as part of a team with full-stack responsibilities. Our teams are typically multi-disciplinary, combining skills from Data Science/Engineering, DevSecOps, Product and UX. Software Engineers will typically have a detailed understanding of at least one object-oriented language, software design, industry best-practices as well as excellent communication skills and a constructive problem-solving mentality.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Production of high-quality, well-tested, maintainable features, that fit into the broader system under development, including
Validation
Design
Planning
Estimation
Implementation
Documentation
Deployment
Constructive peer-review of features as well as good reviewee hygiene.
Maintenance and development of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-infrastructure
Monitoring and maintenance of systems owned by the engineering team, including service outage response and retrospectives, live-support, bug-fixes and security improvements.
Active participation and improvement of agile ceremonies. Planning, grooming, retrospectives, stand-ups for sprints and planning increments.
Adherence to our core engineering principles of Aligned Autonomy, Psychological Safety and Continuous Improvement
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Excellent knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language (C++, C#, Java, JS, Kotlin, Python, PHP, Golang)
Flexibility to work on all areas of the service stack, front-end, back-end, infrastructure etc.
Basic scripting skills in bash or powershell
Time management and asynchronous communication skills relevant for a remote-first engineering organization.
Understanding of the principles of good software design. Familiarity with core concepts such as information hiding, abstraction, module design, cohesion and coupling.
Knowledge of testing methodology and designing high-quality testing suites resilient to changes in implementation.
Knowledge of Data Structures, Databases and Caching Technologies
Experience of continuous Integration, pipeline design, containerized workloads and infrastructure as code.
Logging, Monitoring, Alerting and Escalation Policies
Enthusiasm and ability to work collaboratively within a team
Data-driven, evidence-based mentality, comfortable with the principles of continuous experimentation and validation.
Excellent spoken and written English
