Junior Legal Counsel

We seek a Junior Legal Counsel to join our company's Legal Department. The ideal candidate will play a major role in ensuring contractual compliance and legal alignment within the rapidly evolving landscape of the financial industry, including cryptocurrency, digital assets, investment funds, FinTechs, and payment institutions. The candidate should demonstrate a keen interest in emerging technologies and possess a solid understanding of the legal framework surrounding these industries. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with industry experts, engage with diverse clients, and contribute to the advancement of legal strategies within the context of emerging financial technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting contracts and agreements  of varying complexity tailored to the client's needs. Ensuring all drafted documents are legally sound and compliant with relevant regulations.
• Conducting legal reviews  of clients' contracts and documentation and providing clear and concise feedback on potential legal issues and risks.
• Participating in calls with potential and established clients,  including providing assistance to Lead Legal Counsel in legal consultations and conducting meeting agendas and minutes of meetings.
• Assisting in drafting documentation for clients' business ventures,  including Terms of Service, Privacy Policies, AML/CTF rules, data protection documentation, and other compliance materials as requested, ensuring all client documentation meets legal and regulatory standards.
• Assisting in drafting legal opinions and memorandums,  including evaluation and assessment of client questions and inquiries within the laws of various EU and non-EU jurisdictions, research and analysis of recent case laws and applicable statutes, regulations, and legislative frameworks, and provision of clear outlines of the legal frameworks forming the basis of legal opinions.
• Maintaining a comprehensive database  of legal documents and products created during the course of employment, ensuring all documents are organized and easily accessible for future reference.
• Conducting legal research and analysis of regulatory amendments  in various areas of law, including crypto regulations, FinTech, banking, corporate law, cybersecurity, and data protection, in jurisdictions where we provide services. Reporting on significant changes and advising on their potential impact on our operations and our clients.
• Assisting Lead Legal Counsel  in the development and implementation of internal procedures and products and supporting them in everyday operations and other legal matters related to the duties outlined above as needed.

Requirements for the Candidate:

• A minimum of completed Bachelor's degree in Law;
• 0-2 years of work experience in the field of corporate, contract, consumer, and/or financial law;
• Strong understanding of corporate, contract, consumer, and financial regulations of the European Union (other jurisdictions are a plus) and legal compliance principles.
• Strong interest in the latest developments in the financial industry and underlying technology, including cryptocurrency, IT, FinTechs, and blockchain technology;
• Familiarity with Web3 legal developments and a strong interest in continuous learning;
• Solid understanding of EU Law and its implications for corporate management and advisory services (knowledge of the legal frameworks of any specific EU Member State(s) is advantageous);
• Ability to engage with clients and understand their legal needs in the context of different financial industries of various levels of engagement and complexity;
• Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. Strong ability to navigate the assigned tasks and topics and find efficient solutions;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
• Proficiency in legal research tools and databases, including the ability to conduct thorough legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively;
• Open-minded, proactive, sociable, and enthusiastic, ready to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural and diverse environment.
• Physical residence in Tallinn, Estonia.

Language Skills:

• Proficiency in English (at least B2) is required.
• Additional proficiency in other languages ​​is an advantage.
