Eesti Energia is the largest oil shale processing company in the world. In Estonia we focus on servicing each and every Estonian household – our electricity consumers. Internationally we are known for our shale oil production technology that is regarded as the most advanced, cleanest and most energy efficient. We operate in the Baltics, Germany, Jordan and the United States. With close to 8,000 employees we are the largest and most valued employer in Estonia.

Eesti Energia together with our partners, YTL Power International Berhad of Malaysia and Near East Investments of Jordan, is developing two parallel oil shale projects in Jordan – a direct combustion oil shale power plant (~490 MW) that will substitute more expensive electricity generation options and an oil shale processing plant producing shale oil that will replace liquid fuels, which would otherwise be imported.

The power project is one of the largest that has ever been implemented in Jordan. Eesti Energia is exporting his knowledge and technology to enable the production of electricity out of oil shale. Since having been awarded a concession over resource area in July 2010 we have conducted an extensive exploration program and developed a mining plan and technical concept for the power plant. At the end of June we started the tendering process for the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the new power plant in Jordan. The commissioning of the plant is expected in 2016/2017.

Due to the progress of this Project, we are seeking additional top professionals to strengthen our dedicated development team, whose ambition is to build up an oil shale industry in Jordan similarly to Estonia.
