IBDP Biology & ESS Teacher / MYP Science Teacher

The school is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered educator to teach IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) while also delivering Middle Years Programme (MYP) Science. The successful candidate will inspire curiosity, scientific inquiry, and environmental responsibility while fostering critical thinking and international mindedness in accordance with the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB).

The teacher will create engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences that challenge students academically and support their personal growth in a diverse international learning community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in IBDP Biology, IBDP Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), and MYP Science.

• Implement inquiry-based, concept-driven, and student-centered teaching strategies aligned with IB standards and practices.

• Develop engaging learning experiences that promote scientific investigation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

• Integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning.

• Promote environmental awareness, sustainability, and global citizenship through authentic learning experiences.

Assessment

• Design formative and summative assessments aligned with IB assessment criteria.

• Prepare students effectively for IBDP internal and external assessments, including practical investigations and examinations.

• Provide timely, constructive feedback that supports student progress.

• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress regularly with students and parents.

Curriculum Development

• Collaborate with colleagues to review and enhance the Biology, ESS, and MYP Science curriculum.

• Participate in curriculum mapping, unit planning, and interdisciplinary learning where appropriate.

• Ensure curriculum aligns with IB Standards and Practices and current scientific developments.

Student Support

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.

• Support students’ academic, social, and emotional wellbeing.

• Serve as a mentor or homeroom/advisory teacher when required.

• Encourage participation in science-related competitions, environmental initiatives, and extracurricular activities.

Professional Responsibilities

• Participate actively in MYP/DP/Science Departmental meetings, professional learning, and collaborative planning.

• Engage in ongoing IB professional development.

• Contribute to school events, field trips, service-learning projects, and community outreach.

• Uphold school policies and promote the mission and values of the school.

• Master’s degree in biology, Environmental Science, Science Education, or a related field.

• Recognized teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Biology at the secondary level.

• Strong understanding of inquiry-based teaching and assessment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong classroom management skills.
