Job Description
What will you be doing?
- Plan, create and maintain databases to meet business requirements and ensure optimal structures.
- Develop and execute backup plans, test recovery procedures and implement high-availability solutions such as clustering, Data Guard or Always On.
- Monitor database performance using tools like SQL Profiler, tune queries and adjust procedures for better efficiency.
- Implement robust security measures—including access controls, encryption and auditing—to protect data integrity and confidentiality.
- Schedule and apply database updates, monitor growth and plan expansions to maintain system stability and compliance.
- Work closely with development teams to design efficient database structures, while maintaining comprehensive documentation of configurations and policies.
Does this sound like You?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, orrelevant experience in this field.
- Hands-on experience with major relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), along with familiarity in data warehousing (e.g., Vertica) and NoSQL solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and support robust high availability/disaster recovery setups—like clustering, replication or failover strategies—keeps mission-critical systems running smoothly.
- A strong grasp of backup and recovery processes, plus in-depth knowledge of database security requirements, helps maintain integrity and meet industry standards.
