Connectivity and Network Engineer

We are looking for a Connectivity and Network Engineer who will take ownership of our internal networking environment and play a key role in troubleshooting and supporting connectivity and data exchange with our clients’ systems.

This role sits at the intersection of networks and various industrial building automation systems and protocols. You do not need deep building automation experience, but you must be comfortable diagnosing network and integration-level problems and working with internal and client-side teams.

R8 Technologies is a proptech company using explainable AI to help real estate owners and operators optimize building performance, reduce energy consumption, and lower emissions. 

Network Ownership (Internal)

• Administer and maintain the company’s network infrastructure. 
• Ensure secure and reliable connectivity between internal services and external client environments. 
• Maintain network documentation and connectivity standards. 

Client Connectivity & Integrations

• Troubleshoot connectivity and data retrieval issues between client systems and our platform. 
• Investigate network, firewall, routing, and API-related issues in collaboration with client IT teams. 
• Support onboarding of new client connections which involves communication with client-side technicians and network configuration. 
• Analyze logs, traffic flows, and API responses to identify root causes of issues. 

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work closely with software developers to diagnose API, protocol, and networking issues. 
• Act as the technical point of contact for connectivity-related topics. 
• Translate between IT, OT, and software perspectives. 

• Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals. 
• Hands-on experience with different firewalls, VPNs, and network security concepts. 
• Ability to read logs, packet captures, and system diagnostics. 
• Comfortable communicating with international clients and internal teams. 
• Fluency in English required; additional languages are an advantage. 
• Ability to work onsite in Estonia.

• Familiarity with industrial or IoT systems (building automation, SCADA, OT networks). 
• Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) for diagnostics or automation. 
• Understanding of security best practices in IT/OT environments. 
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
