Position Title:            Senior Project Assistant - Integration

Duty Station:             IOM Tallinn, Estonia

Classification:            General Service Staff, Grade G6

Type of Appointment: 5 months, with possibility of extension

Context:

 

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office in Estonia, the Senior Project Assistant will participate in implementing the project which focuses on provision of 1-3 day training modules to beneficiaries of international protection in Estonia.  In particular s/he will participate in updating and developing relevant training materials, including methodology, for the target groups of the module. S/he will also facilitate training of trainers, organize trainings for the target group and when needed does not shy off providing training directly to the beneficiaries of international protection.

 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Provide support in implementation of activities in line with set objectives, envisaged action plan and donor’s requirements
  • Support the Project Officer in maintaining an effective and close coordination of all activities with the partner organizations to ensure compliance with projects’ agreements, suggesting corrective actions as deemed essential to implement the project
  • Participate with the project stakeholders and Project Officer in update and development of relevant training materials for the target group, including participants’ handbook, training methodology and other training materials.
  • Produce information and outreach materials for visibility on projects activities, including preparation and editing of information materials. Support in strategies on reaching to the target groups.
  • Support public outreach/communication on thematic issues.
  • Collect, analyse, update, and maintain relevant projects related statistical and content related data.
  • Undertake duty trips as required to attend relevant meetings and trainings.
  • Organize and facilitate, when feasible and needed, trainings for target groups. Contribute into capacity building of trainers.
  • Contribute into procurement process (from bidding to the goods receipt) according to relevant donor and IOM instructions and regulations
  • Assist in monitoring project activities and financial expenditures as well as contribute into finalization of relevant donor reports
  • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.
  • Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required.

 

Requirements

Required Qualifications and Experience

 

Education

  • Completed University degree, or other higher education degree preferably in Social Sciences, Social Services or related field, from an accredited academic institution with 4 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles; or,
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with 6 years of relevant professional experience.

 

Experience

 

  • Experience in migrant integration, social inclusion or related field, and/or interest in developing expertise in migrant integration;
  • Experience as a trainer and/or facilitator;
  • Relevant work experience in migration (e.g. migrant reception, counselling, and/or other integration related activities) is considered a distinct advantage;
  • Particularly experience in adult education and/or participatory methods is a distinct advantage;
  • Experience in developing training curricula is an advantage;
  • Knowledge on issues relating to migration is an advantage;
  • Experience in producing communication materials and/or interest in developing skills in communication, is an asset; and,
  • Experience in working for and/or implementing projects is an advantage.

 

Languages

 

  • Fluency in English and Estonian is required.
  • Knowledge of Russian is an
