To work with the Laboratory Manager and the Consultant Haematologist in providing an
efficient and effective laboratory service which meets the needs of inpatients and
outpatients in accordance with Laboratory guidelines and Hospital policy and procedures.
Responsibilities will include:
o To provide routine service on site.
o To participate in developing the Blood Transfusion service so that it continually meets the clinical needs of our patients.
o To participate in the implementation of a ‘quality management’ programme which is patient centred and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction.
o To actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the position.
o To participate in ensuring that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
Postgraduate degree in the field of medical laboratory science, OR be eligible for a fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science.
Fellowship of the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science OR be eligible for fellowship
At least 4 years post qualification experience in the relevant & required discipline
Laboratory experience to ISO15189 quality standards
Experience of team working, flexibility and good organisational ability
