Senior Kotlin Backend Engineer, Wolt Market

If you do, then come and join our Wolt Market teams and dive deep into Kotlin to develop from scratch our backend services.

Wolt Market is a chain of dark grocery stores available on Wolt’s well known delivery platform. Wolt Market delivers groceries to our users within 30 minutes, and now we’re looking to take a leap forward with a dedicated product offering for Wolt Market. The area will consist of multiple teams, which are still to be hired and built.

The teams will collaborate closely with our Retail, DaaS, and Merchant (integrations) teams, share knowledge, best practices and infrastructure on AWS.

Kotlin for us a success story; we started using it in our Fintech team but now it has spread to multiple teams across product development for building our microservices.

If you haven’t used Kotlin so far, that’s ok, we are happy to consider anyone who has experience with a JVM language such as Java or Scala.

Since it is early days in the project, you will play an integral part in defining the way the team will work, participate in architecture, CI/CD discussion meetings and decide on tools and best practices.

The team will be based in Helsinki HQ (working remotely at the moment) but welcomes new members to the Helsinki HQ or working entirely remotely elsewhere in Finland, Germany, Denmark, or Estonia now and in the future.

Our humble expectations

We are looking for people who have several years of experience building high-quality software, APIs and integrations and can handle the whole development cycle all the way to production. We find strong expertise in other JVM backend languages like Java and Scala genuinely relevant as well. Other relevant technologies are MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and we deploy on AWS.

The compensation will be a negotiable combination of monthly pay and Wolt stock options. The latter make it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you will own a piece of the pie.
