Job Description

The Principal TAM will perform as a Remote Product Specialist for Business Critical Services customers with strong product expertise in Symantec Endpoint Management products.

By performing analysis of their customer's architecture and implementation of EPM solutions, the Pricipal TAM provides technical advisement to resolve problems. Provide mitigation strategies relevant to the global landscape in conjunction with their determination of their customers needs. The Principal TAM will use its technical expertise to reproduce customer environments for troubleshooting purposes. Provide customer support to high profile/high impact customers (e.g. multi-million $$ contracts). The Principal TAM may be assigned as a lead in charge of day-to-day activities of an assigned team. This may include responsibility to ensure the smooth operation and functioning of the workgroup, including ensuring adequate 24x7 customer coverage in the instance of team member absence(s).
Some travel will be required to visit customer sites, to evaluate customer systems, and to develop relationships. The candidate will make introductory welcome calls to new customers and to contacts introducing them to Symantec Support and their entitlements under the Business Critical Services offerings.
The candidate will keep the Sales Account Managers proactively informed of any major issues that they are likely to hear about directly from the customer and will maintain regular contact with said managers. The candidate will be expected to document all communication within the company’s case management tool.
The candidate may occasionally receive emergency calls from customers outside of normal business hours
The Principal TAM uses professional concepts and company procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways. Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.


Requirements

Qualifications
- In-depth product expertise and troubleshooting skills with Symantec Endpoint Management products (Altiris) is required. (Strong NS and DS knowledge a must)
- Demonstrate superb written and verbal communications skills in English.
- German language skills a plus
- Proficiency in a second Eurpoean language is desirable.
- Minimum 3 years Enterprise Technical Support experience with a minimum of 2 years advanced support level and large, global enterprise customers is expected.
- University Degree, equivalent high-level qualification, or at least 4 - 6 years related IT industry experience is a plus.
- Experienced in supporting large enterprise customers with proven track record and diplomatic and assertiveness skills.
- Solid familiarity with flavors of Windows, Linux, UNIX, and networking security is essential.
- Good exposure to corporate IT environments with technologies like SQL, Scripting and Database administration is desired.
- Qualifications on Symantec EPM products are a plus.
- Willing to work out of normal business hours without prior notice (upon customer demand).
