It is the task of the support engineer to troubleshoot and help customers find workarounds for problems or issues they encounter with Rational tools. The engineer also escalates to development where necessary or to duplicate customer issues for filing defects. Documentation of customer issues and the writing of technical notes on resolutions or workarounds is an essential aspect of the job.
Rational products are officially supported in English, German and French. Being fluent speaker and writer in either German or French is one of the selection criteria.
Technical: Our ideal candidate has a great love for software technology. He/she will have acquired skills as a software developer, designer, or software professional or alternatively will have the basic skills in order to be able to grow into one of these areas.
We expect that a candidate will need the following technical skills in order to be successful:
- Educated to degree level;
- > 2 years experience in Information Technology with a specialization in software programming;
- Unix or Linux administration knowledge
- Database administration knowledge (DB2 and/or Oracle)
- Fluent level of German language
