Cultural Affairs Assistant (Junior)

The RELO Assistant (RELOA) is part of the Regional English Language Office's efforts to develop and oversee programming that strengthens ties between the U.S. and citizens and institutions in the region. The position oversees online programming in RELO Tallinn’s region, including Estonia, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia, for public diplomacy outreach through English language teaching and learning, including but not limited to the OPEN Program of online courses, MOOCs, and live events, and additionally through social media platforms across the region, and through materials distribution. The position also provides programmatic and administrative support to the Regional English Language Officer (RELO), RELO Assistant in Tallinn, and the RELO Specialist in Moscow to help extend the impact of RELO programming.

- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Communication, or a related field.

- A minimum of 3 years' English teaching experience, plus experience presenting at workshops. 

- Fluency in English and Estonian. Limited knowledge of Russian is required. 

- Broad knowledge of the field of Teaching English as a Second Language, including educational technology and methodology.

- Specialized knowledge of the educational system in Estonia and surrounding countries. Must be familiar with the U.S. educational system, culture, and society.

- Computer and social media literacy. Must have vast experience in developing content for social media.

- The ability to function under minimal supervision, while also working with a team of colleagues and external contacts.

- Strong keyboarding and Microsoft Office skills, along with a firm grasp of social media tools, for posting and streaming, and online learning management systems (LMSs) and other distance education platforms.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Some travel is required.

- Strong ability to organize logistics for regional online programming.
