Cultural Affairs Assistant (Senior)

Under the guidance of the Regional English Language Officer (RELO), the incumbent is expected to independently monitor, review, and report on current English language programs in the RELO Tallinn region, including Estonia, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Russia; design, implement, and report on new RELO initiatives with RELO review and concurrence; this includes content, participants, budget, and logistics; monitor and report on all programs to RELO and Public Affairs Sections; develop regional contacts independently and with the RELO.

- Master's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Applied Linguistics or a related field.

- Minimum of six years of teaching and teacher-training experience at the secondary or university level, including conducting and organizing workshops. 

- Fluency in Estonian and English, good working knowledge of Russian.

- Broad knowledge of Teaching English as a Second Language, including educational technology and methodology.

- Specialized knowledge of the educational system in Estonia and surrounding countries. Must be familiar with the U.S. educational system, culture, and society.

- Computer literacy, including MS Office suite of programs, and knowledge how to create, format, and revise documents.

- Availability for travel at least 25% of the time.

- Ability to organize information and data efficiently and quickly for future use, including budgets.

- Ability to organize and implement professional development programs such as workshops, seminars, conferences, panel discussions and lectures, and host experts from the United States.
