Our client is a leading global fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions. The company is a market leader for SOC chipsets and software for mobile phone handsets. They are looking for hardworking, innovative and hands-on engineers to join the UK software development group based near Cambridge, UK.
The group is developing innovative technologies in the area of 3D graphics. We are primarily responsible for the creation of a 3D graphics engine using OpenGL-ES to provide advanced user interface features and applications.
Longer term our role will extend into other emerging technologies which will enhance the overall user experience such as 3D display, 3D cameras and augmented reality. There will also be significant opportunities for innovative conceptual design of user interface features.
We are looking for candidates who are quick learners and excited by the challenges of developing multimedia technology to improve the user experience.
• Good degree (2.1) from a good university or equivalent, in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related subject.
General Work Experience
•3+ years of software development experience or equivalent, ideally in the area of graphics (user interfaces, gaming, 3D modeling, etc).
•Architecture design of highly modular systems or frameworks.
•Experience of game engine architecture and design
•Understanding the basic principles of 3D modeling
•Experience in real-time embedded systems or mobile terminal development is an advantage
•Fluent in C.
•Good understanding of OO design principles
•Strong mathematical skills, especially applied to 3D models, motion, animation, etc.
•Experience in OpenGL, OpenGL ES, DirectX, M3G, or similar
•Hands-on technical leadership and project management skills.
•Able to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally or in writing.
•Excellent real-time software debugging skills is an advantage
