Job description
SEVEN is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to round out our Leadership team in Estonia. As a key contributor, you’ll manage engineering (including software development and QA) and lead our technology initiatives as we take our products into this exciting next growth phase. You’ll have the privilege of working with the most talented, passionate and professional engineers. We’re not just looking for a manager of people; this person will have a very hands-on role in moving our product forward, engaging with customers, and partnering with the leadership team in the overall business planning.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
• Collaborate and work closely with product managers and executive team to expand on current product offerings that map to business requirements and product roadmap.
• Set and drive the technical direction for the engineering team, collaborating on and communicating technical design, architecture, & QA.
• Lead and take a hands-on approach to the entire software development life-cycle. You will develop project and resource plans and schedules, and perform day-to-day project management to ensure successful on-time releases.
• Drive engineering and quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
• Allocate engineering resources appropriately across various projects, juggling current customer/prospect needs with longer term product roadmap needs. Provide appropriate estimates & project resource plans around regular releases of new features and product offerings.
• Articulate the business goals to the technology team, and the technology opportunities, limitations, and trade-offs to the business team. Act as a regular conduit in communication between engineering, product management, and sales. Especially, collaborate with product management to appropriately manage operations costs and drive changes to achieve cost efficiencies.
• Regular coaching, mentoring, checking in with your team, including goal setting, performance evaluation, and continuous team motivation.
• Budget management and the ability to accomplish a lot with limited resources, as all successful startups companies must. Facilitation of team technical discussions and idea exchanges.
• Collaborate with other engineering leaders across all other SEVEN’s R&D facilities to ensure that good global communication is in place and engineering issues are globally staffed and coordinated appropriately.

Skill requirements
• BS in computer science, engineering or related degree. Masters degree a plus.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering management experience plus 5+ years leading software development. Experience in a diverse range of web-based technologies as well as a track record of leading teams through regular development of application software.
• Demonstrated track record of successfully hiring, motivating, retaining and effectively utilizing talented software developers and consultants to perform against aggressive schedules. Must be able to point to successful companies where you directly lead the design, development, delivery, support and maintenance of a large scale, high performing, and technically complex, reliable and robust web services solutions.
• Experience working with remote engineering team members across multiple time zones. Excellent vision and the ability to make forward-looking technology decisions and plans.
• Effective time management, prioritization skills, and promotion of such across the team.
• Should foster a positive culture; promote collaboration, innovation, creativity, and a fun work environment (people want to work with you and for you).
• Should lead by example and remain calm during stressful peaks and celebrate in the successes of team members.
• Facilitate productivity, passion, & manage conflict in the spirit of professionalism. Must be ethically strong and have strong integrity.
